At night time, the Sandman helps us drift to sleep and wander through the world of dreams. Through dreams we experience new and wondrous things and gain insight into ourselves. Runaway Puppet Theater presents three tales of sleep and dreams in their production Sandman's Sleepy Stories, hosted by the Sandman himself.
No one is as famous for sleeping as Rip Van Winkle. Rip is a good natured man, but a bit lazy. Instead of tending the fields or livestock, he'd much rather spend the day lounging in the woods. However, during a chance encounter with the woodland folks, Rip falls asleep for 20 years! What changes will he find in his little town now that he has almost slept his life away?
Sleeping too much can be bad, but not getting enough sleep can be even worse. When a young Gecko can't get to sleep, he complains to the village elder. The elder then investigates what keeps the Gecko from falling asleep and discovers the Gecko himself may be the cause!
A poor farmer dreams three nights in a row that if he travels to the city and stands at the bridge, he will find his fortune. After three days of waiting, the farmer wonders if he has wasted his time. Especially when those he meets tell him that he's foolish for following his dream.
